Swank Digital Campus provides streaming access to feature films.These movies are specifically licensed for educational use and can be accessed for one year after they're added to the platform.
Important Note
These movies cannot be shown publicly; they may only be viewed through the Swank Digital Campus platform.
You may use these films for classes as follows:
- Stream films in classes: yes
- Provide students with a link to watch film during an online class: yes
- Provide students with a link to watch film outside of class time: yes
- Stream films by sharing your screen during a Zoom/online class: no
Faculty: we do not subscribe to Swank's entire catalog. If there's a film you would like to use in class, and it is available through Swank, you may request the title following the steps below:
Requesting a title
1. Access our library's subscription to Swank | https://www.brearley.org/swank and sign in with your brearley.org account
2. Find the film you want to use for your course in the SWANK Digital Campus databases and select it
3. Information for the film will appear with a Request button. Click on it to start the request process.
4. After clicking the Request button this form appears asking for information such as the time needed for film, the course, and an area to describe how the film will be used. Since you are logged into your account, the fields for First Name, Last Name, and Email Address should automatically be filled with the needed information.
Under Academic User, make sure to be as detailed as possible in describing how this film will be used. If you do not include enough details, your request may be denied by SWANK or our Library team.
5. You will be notified once your request is approved or not. Please note requests can take up to 7-days
Playing your title
Once your request has been approved, you have 2 ways to show your title:
Using an HDMI connection
This is the preferred method if you are showing a movie to your class using the HDMI connection from your Chrome or Safari browser
Using AirPlay
At the moment, you can AirPlay the title from the Safari browser only
